Book 24: The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien
As Christmas is only just around the corner let’s take the time to talk about books that are a good idea for Christmas presents or just something to read for Christmas. Today’s lucky book is J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. The book is a book for any age, young children to adult. With magic in a world where there are hobbits, wizards and dwarves, a magical tale that opens with the classic line “in a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.” We travel across the lands with this hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, who has been pulled into a travel group of twelve dwarves and a wizard called Gandalf to go on an adventurous quest. Travelling around different rural surroundings to more sinister territory, we met trolls and ogres and ugly-looking evil creatures and elves that have grudges and large black spiders and a dragon called Smaug that speaks and lives in a hill of gold and jewels, what more could you want and need? There is nothing more needed in a wonderful fantasy story and a good book to read one day during your Christmas holiday or a gift to a friend or family.
Another fact is that for those of you fans of the movie here is your chance to read the book before the final instalment of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Hobbit.
